Lima black college club

The Lima Black College Club has been designed in response to the recent College/University DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) changes that have been implimented by the U.S. Federal Government. These changes have a direct impact on designated funding, scholarship and support systems that were previously used to support the successful college/university experience (early/on-time graduation with minimal debt) for black and brown students. We are committed to help ensure that students desiring to pursue a post-secondary education are properly prepared with the knowledge, skills and resources needed to not only get to, but THRU college.

This Program is open to area 8-12 grade black and brown students, and will feature critical information and experiences, including Leadership and Life Skills Building/Development, Resource Awareness (including mental health and stress relief stratagies), Major/Career Exploration, College Scholarship Research & Application, Financial Planning/Literacy, the College/University Selection Process, Community Service, a variety of Guest Speakers (including current college students) and Field Trips to colleges, universities and regional businesses. We will meet on the second Saturday of every month.

The Program Facilitators and guest speakers will have at least an Associates degree, experience in a variety of career fields and the commitment to create/maintain a safe space for open and honest conversation. Parent Sessions will also be incorporated to ensure proper information dissemination and parental preparedness.

A Community Informational meeting will take place on Saturday September 13, 2025, from 10am - 12pm, at the Bradfield Community Center (550 S. Collett St., Lima, OH 45805)
